Videos and Lessons

Back to School - things may look and feel different this school year, but we are still praying for all of our students, families, teachers, staff and administrators.

Discuss the questions and readings below. Then watch the video.

What are some of the things you notice about someone you see?

Read Matthew 7:1.

No matter what, whether intentionally or unintentionally, we all make judgements. How do you make a judgement without being "judgmental"?

What does it mean to see someone through "God's eyes"?

Even Christians struggle with judging others, often too quickly.

How would the world be different if we, as Christians, could see people with God's eyes?

Read Psalm 139:13-14.

Read Genesis 1:26.

What does it mean to be made in God's image?

Is there any one excluded from this?

Take time to pray that you are able to see the image of God in ALL people.

Answer the questions below. Then watch the video.

1. How would you describe what it means to be a friend?

2. What role does trust play in a friendship?

3. What does it mean to be "held accountable"?

4. How can friends hold each other accountable?

5. Letting people into your life can be difficult. What, if anything, is hard for you when it comes to friendship?

6. How can a friend help your relationship with God?

7. How can you help your friends with their relationship with God?

Read Proverbs 27:17, then watch the video.

Take some time to pray - ask God to give you the friends you need and to help you be the friend that you should be.

Answer the questions below. Then watch the video.

1. What are you afraid of (fears, phobias, etc.)?

2. What are you deeply afraid of (non tangible things - death, being alone, etc.)?

3. How would you describe fear?

4. How do you feel when you are afraid?

5. How can God ease or calm your fears?

6. Do you trust God with your fear?

7. How do you trust God with your fear?

Take some time to pray - admit your fears, share them with God, leave them with God.

Watch the video below for a reading of Psalm 8, then take some time to answer the questions below.

1. When you think of God, what is the first thing that comes to mind?

How powerful is God?

Is there anything God can't do?

How, when or where have you seen God's majesty on display?

2. If God truly is in control of everything, how does that influence how you live your life?

Do you believe God is in control of EVERYTHING?

If God is in control, how does that affect how you approach him in worship?

3. How does God's creation reveal his greatness?

In relationship to God, who is man?

How does it make you feel to know that God is "mindful" of you and "cares" for you?

Why does God value his creation so highly (mankind and the earth)?

Based on God's value of you, his creation, how does that shape your faith?

Take some time to pray - be sure to think about how big and great and majestic God is when you talk to him.

Read Micah 6:8

O people, the LORD has told you what is good,

and this is what he requires of you:

to do what is right, to love mercy,

and to walk humbly with your God.

1. Make a list of things you need to MAKE RIGHT. Here are a few questions to help stir your thinking.

Do you owe anyone anything? (this includes time)

Have I been telling the truth?

Have I treated others as they should be treated?

Are there sins or struggles I need to step away from?

Am I living like God asks me to?

2. Do my actions reflect the heart and MERCY of God?

Am I merciful to others?

Do I live in such a way that I put others before myself?

Do I only give of myself when it is convenient?

3. Are you willing to be nothing if it means glorifying God?

Do I make decisions based on how they will benefit me, or benefit the Kingdom of God?

Do I feel too deserving of certain things?

Do I make sure more people notice me or notice God?

Am I serving God wholeheartedly?

Read Colossians 3:23

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.

Take some time to pray with your family that you may do what is right, act mercifully, and walk with God in humility.
