Sometimes we all need some words of encouragement or inspiration. In just one instant you can make a difference in your day or someone else's. We pray that "insta-graham" gives you the insight that you need, or maybe some helpful words to pass on to a friend. May the Lord bless you and keep you today.

Weakness: lacking strength; a quality or feature regarded as a disadvantage or fault; an inadequate or defective quality, as in a person's character.

In 2 Corinthians 12:9, Jesus said to Paul, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

Even a spiritual giant, like Paul, wasn't thrilled to admit that he couldn't do everything on his own. Paul, like any one of us, didn't like the thought of being inadequate or lacking something. But as a follower of Jesus, the Apostle Paul discovered that the strength of God was more recognizable in his moments of weakness.

It's an unusual paradox that we find in God's Word... that Jesus' power, his ability, his strength, is increased and perfected in our weakness. But today, just as much so as in Paul's time, weakness is undesirable. Nobody WANTS to be weak. In fact, Jesus encouraged his followers to be strong in spirit because the flesh is weak. So it is not that God or Jesus wants us to be weak, but rather in our weakness, God wants us to depend on Him.

Perhaps where we struggle, much like Paul, is in admitting just how weak we are. Too many of us keep hobbling along in failure instead of giving up our independence and turning to God.

So yes... pray for strength in the Lord, but don't be afraid to embrace the perfection of Jesus' strength that comes in your weakness.

"That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
